Rising Past the Foliage
I really like this photo particularly because of the story it tells and how the lighting in the photo tells that story. this was taken at the top of a mountain at the crack of dawn when me and my cousin had decided to go on a hike to see the sunrise on the top of the mountain. In the photo you can see the first rays on sun shine down on the tips of the mountain while the dark valleys on the bottom wait for sunlight ti hit ans for the day to officially start.

This photo is from the same hike but the view was so amazing from the other side. What makes this photo great is the way its able to capture so much of the land below. in this we can see the towns on the plains, the ko'olaus, the ocean, a little bit of the mountain on the top and the hiker that stands looking out at the view. the contrast from the small hiker in comparison to the rest of the photo allows the viewer to have a sense of depth as well as get an idea of the scale of the photo.

Pali Lookout Mountain
The curve of the rail on the bottom left creates a line that adds interest to the block-y shapes that the mountains create. the green on the mountains stand out against the dark rock it lays on. The frame cuts off the rest of the mountain and is only able to capture a small amount of it but it allows the viewer to have a realistic view of what the hike would look like if they were on it.

Fresh Basil
My neighbor has a basil plant and every time i go there to drop something off I admire the lush beauty of the basil bush. What makes this photo beautiful to me is the shine of the healthy leaves and the full bush of basil that fill the rest of the frame. The shine of the basil brings out the bright color of it at its healthiest stage in life before being picked, its a true beauty in nature.

China Walls
When the days are clear China walls is one of my favorite places to go for snorkeling, but when you're not underwater appreciating the life below the water, the view from the top of the rocks are pretty nice too. when sunset had come at the end of a long day of swimming and snorkeling the last few orange rays of light peek through the corner of the frame ready to leave the island for dark skies to take over instead.

Up and Down
Bright green leaves in nature are one of my favorite things to see and photograph and I particularly like this green leaf mostly because of its texture and the way I framed the photo. The spine of the leaf is on one of the rule of third lines which makes the photo seem more compelling and guides the audiences eyes across the photo. And the subtle shadows that run across the photo makes the leaf more interesting to look at. the texture of the leaf also makes it look more intriguing as it adds more details for the viewer to look at.
